O-what?
OAuth literally stands for Open Authorization or open standard for access delegation. In ‘human language’, it means you can log into different third party systems such as apps, websites or other services with just one existing login which has OAuth standard integration.
One well known example is the fact you can log into different services like Spotify or Tiktok with your Facebook or Google account. Like this, you don’t have to create a new account for each app or website, but you can simply log in with your existing Facebook or Google account.
Smart, safe and easy
The fact you don’t have to create a new account for each product or service has numerous advantages. First of all, only one system has access to your data in a central database. When you log into another app, the first system will provide only the necessary information, needed for that specific app.
In addition to the data privacy benefits, it also affects ease of use. You don’t need hundreds of accounts and passwords, but you get logged in everywhere thanks to one central database.
Thanks to OAuth and single sign on, you only have to login once to your association platform and all the apps work seamlessly in the background.
